Testimonials
"I have worked with Akemi to design my logo and branding for my new business and it’s been such an inspiring creative journey. Akemi starts at the very bottom of your brand essence, working with you to understand where your brand identity is coming from and how it should speak to the world. She’s the best brand consultant I have worked with!."

THE BLOG
I would love to share here a compilation of illustrations I have created during the years.
I have always enjoyed drawing portraits of women. So, here is a list of photos of my portrait work - hope you’ll enoy!
Botanical art is still going strong! While I love antique artwork pieces in this style, I have allowed myself to have fun re-imagining a modern take on it. In this blog post, I will lead you through a quick inspirational visual voyage.
Let’s have a look at the Wabi-Sabi style. What is Wabi-Sabi’s philosophical concept? And how does this translate into visual elements? Read about it from a half Japanese designer (aka me!).
I bet that when you read the word minimalism, you picture in your mind a black and white environment, maybe a contemporary open space with high ceilings and geometric decor.
As a matter of fact, the word carries with it a sense of austere feel for most people. However, not all minimalism is cold and sterile, and Scandinavian style is a good example of this. By now we are all familiar with the importance of adding some hygge into our interiors to make them welcoming, as the Swedes and the Danes teach us.
In this blog post, I would like to share with you a real life example of what a brand styling entails and what makes a good brand styling. I’m going to walk you through the branding work done for one of my favourite clients. From initial questionnaire to corollary designs, see what informed the styling choices in the project.
Many small business owners are familiar with what a logo is. We all recognise at a glance Nike’s swoosh icon or Starbucks’ mermaid. As you may suspect, creating a brand goes well beyond having a pretty mermaid logo to display. In this blog post I will show you what you can do to create a strong brand from the visual point of you and how a designer can help you with this.
Since Scandinavian design gained worldwide popularity around 10 years ago or so, the spotlight has been shining brightly on brands coming from Denmark and Sweden. But what about Norwegian design?
Let’s hear about it directly from a Norwegian home decor specialist, who will also teach us about koselig - the Norwegian counterpart to hygge.
